Vivaldi’s Gloria and Handel’s Coronation Anthems – cancelled

Following Matthew Cann’s first very successful concert  since taking over as Torbay Singers’ conductor,  featuring the Durufle Requiem last November, he will be conducting the choir’s next concert which will include the Gloria, Vivaldi’s  most popular and well known choral work.  Also featuring on the programme will be Handel’s Coronation Anthems, all written to accompany the coronation of a monarch.  The most famous of these is Zadok the Priest, which has been sung at every British Coronation since 1727, including Queen Elizabeth II.

The performance will feature professional soloists Daisy Walford, Ellie Sperling and Sebastian Field, and a chamber orchestra, leader Brenda Willoughby. This concert will take place at St Matthias Church, Babbacombe Road, Wellswood,TQ1 1HW  on Saturday 28th March at 7.30 pm, tickets £12 which can be obtained in advance from 01803 782677, 07813 582273 or on the door. (Free to under 25s in full time education).

Unfortunately, this concert was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. We will endeavour to revive the programme at a later time.
